Mud Pots

Field trips are held approximately monthly, and can be collecting trips, educational trips (both in the field and/or to local museums), or simply to another club's show. Many times, we join with other clubs to share experiences.
YVGMS members and non-members are welcome to join us on any fieldtrip, provided that everyone signs a waiver prior to beginning the trip. Anyone under 18 must have a guardian sign the waiver.

September 2010
- CANCELLED DUE TO INJURY Sept 18 (Saturday): South Cardiff State Beach
- Leaders:Frank Fitch & Lee Peterson
- Meeting place: Lee will lead a group from the shop at 8am. We will meet at the beach around 10am.
- What to bring
- "normal" beach stuff (hat, sunscreen, shoes that be dunked in the ocean)
- collecting bag. Those fancy new cloth shopping bags from the grocery store work great. They're cheap, too!
- no need for a rock pick, just dunk the rock in the ocean
- Kid Friendly
- Flush Toilets
- There is a parking fee. Last time I was there, it was $10 per car. Carpooling is good...
- Please note: While rockhounding is not prohibited at the beach, we want to keep
it that way. Be picky, take your time, and be conservative with the volume of
rock you take. We can always just kick back after rockhunting, and enjoy the sun
and beach sights.
- If you leave your car at the shop, park out of the way. The tire shop is open on Saturdays
