Sandcasting with Liz
Member Cost:

Bring items to cast that can withstand being pounded into the sand. Some shells may be ok, along with thicker wax models. Bring items to cast that can withstand being pounded into the sand. Some shells may be ok, along with thicker wax models.
Items should be less than 2 ½ inches in length, width or depth.
Ex: charms, coins, pedants, medals, medallions, crosses, clock parts, fossils, nuts, dice, arrowheads, etc. You will be able to cast 1-3 items and leave with finished casts of your items. Thicker items do take more silver.
Bring several to choose from. There is also an assortment of items at the shop.
Sand casting is an alternative to centrifugal casting and for hundreds of years it was the most popular of all casting methods. Sand casting is a low cost method and provides quick results and ease of duplication to those students who take this class. Sand casting can yield results that are as fine and true to detail as any other casting method, and produce results in a few hours.

Make PMC Beads with Liz

In this class, you will create your own hollow beads. You will learn to texture, cut, form, and manipulate your silver clay for a 3-D effect. You will learn how to work with Project X fine silver metal clay. We also will pass on tips and tricks for working with metal clay.
Students will learn how to use Project X clay to create textures, and work with the clay to cut and form shapes. Students will learn to form textured material around hollow forms of macaroni. Once dried, the beads will then be torch fired. Students will be able to take home several beads which can then be used in other jewelry or worn on a chain

Intermediate Silversmithing, Broom Casts and Rock Salt Casts

In this class, students will use a torch to melt silver in a crucible and pour it into bundles of wet broom straw, a bucket of water and/or rock salt to create unique shapes that can be used in other projects.
If you will have taken the Beginning Silversmithing Class by June 24th, you can sign up for this class!
We use silver only because the other metals produce toxic fumes when melted.

In this class you will learn how to create an intricate pattern using sterling silver wire to wrap the pattern you create around a gemstone of your choice to make a one-of-a-kind necklace pendant! Most students have enough time and material to create 2 pendants.
Bring a Cabochon to wrap or there will be Cab's available for purchase. includes polishing cloth, and display box, NOT wire or cabochon, which are extra.
